It seems that everyone from the public service workers to the underprivileged masses are protesting this year. They all have good reasons to protest. Some are working some are not. Democracy is sweeping the Middle East. Libya is heading for a bloody civil war and the outcome does not look good for the Libyans. Mixed feelings on this since they have been anti-American for a long time. Certainly a tough situation to watch and pick a side to root for. Neither side is very pretty.

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I last ranted on here. It certainly hasn't been for a lack of topics, since this never seems to be a problem. I just have been busy trying to stay employed in this dismal economy. I'm sure some of you are in the same boat as well. UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN? Bullshit!!! This is just the political rhetoric that they are trying to get us to believe. They didn't bother to tell you how many people have exhausted their unemployment benefits did they? I bet that that number was equal to or greater than the jobs added. Unemployment shrank because the benefits were exhausted not because jobs were magically created. Don't believe the rhetoric that the media is force feeding us. To them, we are all in utopia. I don't think so. Gavin Rossdale said it best, "Everything Zen, Everything Zen, I don't think so"

Well it just seems to be getting better and better. After waiting for KC Transportation for three months, I finally was able to get an answer from them after a phone call. I was second on the list and everything was go just three months ago. Then I get told that "sorry they wouldn't be hiring me"....Thanks KC Transportation for wasting my time! You could have told me in a phone call or email instead of jerking me along! Thought that they were an okay company but now I know better. Silly me. Things are looking up. I'm waiting to hear from a company that seems really eager to get me on the road with them. Not the best pay rate, but it's a start! Maybe I can impress them enough to deem me more valuable than first thought. Keeping my fingers crossed. I really miss traveling all over this great nation of ours. Still haven't won the Mega Millions or Powerball lottery, so I still want to be a working man. It's what I am.

Well here it is another month later and I still haven't found a job. Come on KC Transportation! I have waited long enough and am getting very angry that I haven't heard from you. I'm ready to go there and go "postal" on a certain someone. Looking at maybe trying a different market for my skills since being so experienced it makes me higher paid than "newbies". Nobody wants to pay for experience anymore. It seems that most trucking companies are not hiring anyone from Michigan anymore. What gives? Is this "regional profiling"? Things had better get better quick...I have bills to pay and mouths to feed! Hopefully you and yours are doing well in this environment. Be grateful for what you have and thankful.

Well the Canadian dollar, or loonie as they call it, is now almost at par with the US dollar. It won't be long before it is worth more than our money since they seem to be coming out of the recession sooner than we seem to be. The unemployment rate for my hometown is now 15.3%, which is not very encouraging. I am unlucky enough to be one of those that are unemployed but I have a line on a job but am 3rd on the list. I was 6th about a month ago so I'm optimistic about my chances. Shame on all you employers that do not respond to job seekers! Is it that hard to acknowledge the people that are trying to get hired by your company? I'm looking at some other companies and plan on sending them a resume soon. Unless I hit the Mega Millions jackpot this week. It's 200 million or rather 102.8 cash option. Then it would be hard to decide what I'd be doing with Kathy. Working or retiring. Staying here or going somewhere else. Just have to cross that bridge if we come to it. Lets hope that the good news starts flowing some time before the end of the year. Keep your chin up and smile. Don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff.

Anything changed? Economy still in the toilet? Jobs disappearing faster than George Bush after Obama's oath of office? Less government would be more prudent during these hard economic times not the hiring blitz that you seem to think. Term Limits need to be put in place on all elected officials. Lately Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has changed his tune and now wants to do more to stop foreclosures. He suggests that the government make bulk purchases of mortgages that have become delinquent and refinance them through a program called "Hope for Homeowners". He also suggests that a loan modification program would make monthly mortgage payments more affordable. Lower the interest rate to 3% for five years. He also suggests that borrowers would pay no more than 31% of their pretax income, instead of the current 38%. This sounds like what I said when they were discussing the Bailout Plan. I said to take the $750 billion and use it to refinance the distressed mortgages to a payment the people could afford. It would have kept the housing market on a little firmer ground. Obviously, what he did isn't working. Unless you count the number of credit card offers you get now as working. DON'T LISTEN TO ME. I'M NOT A BANKING WHIZ THAT YOU ARE. IT JUST SEEMED TO MAKE PERFECT SENSE TO ME WHEN I POSTED THAT IDEA. INVESTMENT FIRMS ARE BORROWING MORE WHILE BANKS ARE BORROWING LESS. Hmmm, I THINK THAT SOME GREAT INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES ARE COMING UP. Start doing some stock market research, the time to invest in stocks is coming. Profits will be made. With all the hijacked ships being off the coast of Somalia, and all the people in the region supporting the pirates, since it is the only way they can make money, isn't it time to teach them all a lesson? More and more nations are getting in to the act of trying to combat this problem, shouldn't we take the fight to them? A nice big multi-national armed force battling the common enemy. Daily carpet bombing of their cities and luxury homes. Laser guided missiles at their luxury vehicles and any boat off their coast that has more than 2 people on board. Money Safe in Ireland Banks

Ireland has approved a law that guarantees 100% of deposits in six of its largest banks. That is a far cry better than the measly $100,000 we currently have and still better than the $250,000 that this bailout guarantees. If I had a vast amount of wealth, I'd have to open 6 accounts in these banks. Italy would be next, since they guarantee $212,000. I'd deposit not more than $100,000 in the U.S. Just enough to make daily expenses and such. I'd be buying a lot of these falling stocks in the tech, medicine, energy, and entertainment fields. These will rebound and with it a nice return for a small investment. Real estate would also be an investment, but only on a few select properties. I'm not willing to be a landlord. Just dreaming of what makes good business sense to me. Now I just need the vast amount of wealth to get this going. Risky? I really don't think so. I think that Warren Buffet would agree with me. History plays in here and a good sense of what people want and need. It's a buyers market. The only problem is trying to find the actual worth of the real estate that you want to buy. We the people were against this package by a 10-1 margin. They took our hard earned tax dollars and gave it away to a corrupt system that's greed forced them to this point. I know that money is tight and our future is uncertain. Do you realize that our future is always uncertain? Dangers are all around us and have been our entire history. Be thankful for what you have and enjoy it. Happiness does not come from goods. It comes from people, like friends and family. You can't buy them. If you go out to dinner, stay local and tip well when warrented. That stimulates the local economy. If you know me, you know that I always stimulate the local economy. The places I go, the staff know who I am and are happy to see me. I find it sad that I can make someones day by the tip I leave. That is so sad. MONEY DOES NOT CREATE HAPPINESS. My happiest days were growing up and playing tag with my dog "Joshua". Taking him out to lunch and for ice cream. Petting him and just playing. No matter how bad a day I had, he would chase it from my mind. I miss you Joshua. I hope that in Heaven you have found someone to play tag with you and give you all the petting that you want until I hopefully join you. Economy Improving?

Is the economy improving? My girlfriend got called back to her old job that she got laid off from over a year ago. It means more money, hours, and insurance for her, which I am glad for her. Unfortunately, I don't see this to be a sign that things are improving. Too many foreclosures in the local paper, too many plant closings, too many jobs lost, and too much bullshit from the Government on that the economy is improving. If they are saying it, you know it's a lie. Scare tactics are what they give us, since most of us do not think well when scared. I am not one of them! Knee jerk politics are not something that I suffer from like our President and Congress. This bail out that they want to place on our backs, bails out their cronies that drove us to this point by their greed. It does not bail us out. Using our tax dollars to help out the people with the mortgages that are threatening these banks and markets, would be a much better use of our tax dollars. If these mortgages could be refinanced to a set rate with a payment that they could afford, they wouldn't threaten these banks and markets. They would be a stable investment once again. Thus it would avert this crisis that we face. Help the common man, not the greedy CEO's. Help the many and not the few. I'm pretty sure that the cost to do what I suggest would be far less than $700 BILLION. Any member of Congress that votes in favor of this bailout package should be removed from office. The majority of the people of this country are against this deal. If they vote against our wishes, why would you want to keep them in power? It would be a clear example that your vote and voice does not matter. Piss you off? It sure the HELL pisses me off! Goverment for the people by the people!

Limit Compensation for bailout CEO's

The Senators are calling for a limit on the compensation paid to the CEO's of the companies that are requiring this bailout. Why stop there? I've always said that we need to cap the amount paid to every one at $5 million. If you can't live well on that amount of money, I think that you need a little chat with a shrink. I am sick of these people being paid so much. Do you hear me pro athletes, musicians, and CEO's? They should have a cap put on them. Invest the rest of the money in the company or charities of your state, city, or country. Make the offshore tax shelters a treason crime with a mandatory sentence of 20 years in a federal prison of violent offenders. No classy prison of ease for you! Do I have your attention now? Just think how much money would be put back into the economy by this plan. Make chairities required of all Fortune 500 companies. No company can donate to the same chairity that another donates to. Education donations would see a 100% tax deduction. Maybe we would get better quality educations from our schools with this better funding. With $5 million you just might have to be taught how to budget your money. Make you more responsible for your actions. No government bail out for you. I am against this bail out no matter what cost or results occur for it's failure. It's the lesson we and the rest of the world need to learn so we can legislate what we do not want the financial sector to do again. Maybe then you will realize what my plan has for merits. It's not just us that feels this failure, it's the whole world. Let us do what we preach to others and let the market play out with no interference from the government or bail out from our wallets. Here is my vote for President of the United States. Take a minute and see what he has to say. He seems to be the only candidate that grasps what this country needs. His name is Ron Paul. Find him online and see what I am talking about. The good old boy network is what this $700 billion bail out package is trying to save courtesy of our hard earned dollars.(Or rather our great great grandchildren since our national debt has ballooned to trillions of dollars.) You can't spend what you don't have. The government does and we end up with debt and higher taxes plus a weaker dollar. That hurts us more than it hurts the ruling class and big business. This is a failed system that needs to be scrapped and started over. This time financial responsibility must be the law of the land. No military aid to any other nation. It's nice that the feds finally realized that the economy is in the toilet. Most of us realized that a couple of years ago. Don't believe me? Just ask any waiter or waitress how they've been doing and you will find out. I had a personal friend that was forced to close his business because of the economy. That meant job losses to the employees and lost tax revenue for the city, state, and federal governments. Thereby putting the country further in the toilet. What does it take for you people to get angry enough to revolt? Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Bears Stearn, and AIG are all companies that perpetuated the deals that forced them into failure. All the while, their CEO's were paid millions. Don't believe me? Just check out my blog on what the two bozo's from Freddie and Fannie were paid last year, the others involved weren't far behind them. I am against our Government bailing these businesses out. It sets a dangerous precedent. The Government never bailed my friends business out. These companies should have been allowed to fail. Maybe then you would realize that this system is not working. It would have been painful for not only us, but the entire world as well. I think that it would have been a good lesson for us all to learn. Take DNA from them and send them back. Make them be banned for life from entering this country again. Force them to leave at gun point. No being nice. Bilingual signs? HELL NO! The day after the hurricane people in Houston were without power and some had no water. Every fast food restaurant, gas station,Wal-Mart and Sam's club that had a backup generator had lines over a block long. The people were driving around to see the damage, which made our job more difficult. The traffic lights were not working, roads were flooded, power lines were down or sagging, trees were in the roadway, and we had needless traffic hampering our recovery efforts. Hey Houston, what the fuck? You had plenty of notice that this storm was coming, so why didn't you stock up before it hit? Did you think that everything would be fine and that services wouldn't be affected? Stupid Fools! These people must be the dumbest people on the planet, second only to Galveston Island residents. I was in Houston where there was no power and sometimes no water. This blog is all about this and my ranting is not going to be kind. It will show me as cold hearted when it comes to Texans. Why would people not heed a mandatory evacuation order?
The mayor of Galveston Island issued an evacuation order prior to Hurricane Ike hitting this community. Estimates put the number of people not abiding by this order between 15,000 to 20,000 people. When Ike hit the island there were 1,200 calls for rescue from this area that was under the mandatory evacuation order. These MORONS wanted to have someone else risk their life to save their dumb ass. I SAY FORGET THEM! Let them stay there and risk getting a Darwin Award. It would be a fitting end to them. Even after the destruction that you see in these pictures, people are still refusing to leave. They have no power, water, sewers, or food and risk infection from the contaiminated water and muck that now coats this island. They want the Government to give them food and water and ice, which you and I have to pay for. Why reward them for breaking the law? They should be billed for the supplies that they get and fined for not heeding the order. Levy a lien against their homes and sieze them if they refuse to pay within one year. Again the mayor asked the residents that were still on the island to leave. Some have but many more have not. STUPID TEXANS !

He pledged to help get federal funding to build a maple syrup processing plant in Lewis County, the state's leading producer of syrup. When are we going to say "ENOUGH!" and change this Government back into what our Fore Fathers set up? Special interests have taken over our Government using bribes to influence their votes. When these drug suppliers can find no profit in this market maybe then they will stop supplying it. Tax it as you sell it like cigarettes. I don't do drugs and in fact I am very anti-drugs. I just think that we need a different way to go about eliminating them. Otherwise, let's execute all the drug users as we catch them. No trial, no jury, and no jail. Just a low grain .22 pressed against their skull. We don't need a trial, they usually are caught with the drugs on them. Guilty. Case Closed. Sooner or later we will dry up the drug market. Every company in this nation should have to pay 1% of their net profit to a charity. Think of the tax write off. The potential customers you would gain by being a caring company. If I owned a company I would support the Homeless Shelter and the Soup Kitchen. I've never used these two groups but I know people that have. I try to take care of a guy named Mario in my hometown. Unfortunately I'm not there enough. He says that I'm like a big brother to him, even though he is older than me. Mario is one of my Hero's. Even with his disablity, he will sweep and mop floors for a cup of coffee. Mario does not want charity. He wants to work for it. The thought of stealing never enters his mind and that makes him better than most people. He once told me that he knew that he would never have the good job, nice house, or new car and that he was okay with that knowledge. God willing Mario, if I ever hit the lotto, you will have the nice house and car as well as a good job. I would give him a job with the company that I would start and he would be my neighbor. Though he is not my brother, I am my brothers keeper. To all you that have told me I shouldn't help the underpriveleged out. Shame on you. When you get to the pearly gates I hope that God(Harry Potter) says that it was him that you refused to help and that you can't come in. As for me, I hope to go the same place as you since I think that I'll know more people there. The only problem, I'll work there and I wouldn't want to see you everyday.

Mega Million Dreams

If I ever won the Mega Millions this is what I'd buy. The truck is a Freightliner Coronado, which I would have customized by The Chrome Shop Mafia in Joplin,Mo. You see I keep working, just not all year. The boat is a Sea Ray Sundancer 48 that Kathy and I would spend all summer on. I'd work from fall to spring. The summers would be out on Lake Huron. Making up for all the time I spend on the road away from the one I love and my friends and family. I'd like to start my own trucking company. Nothing very big, 5-6 trucks at most. They would all be like the one above. I wouldn't do anything to mine that I wouldn't do to my drivers. Kidworks Transportation would be the name of it. I even have a couple of ideas that I'd like to patent. Maybe put a few people to work making that product. I have a different business plan that I would follow. I'd also start a charity division that I would call Kidworks Cares. What that would do is not for you to know. I would try to develop this company to be the best at what they do. Image, image, image is my mantra. I have a few ways to go about boosting this image. I'd still be out on the road with my drivers and eventhough I'd be owner, I'm still just a truck driver at heart. JOBS. My job let's me travel this great nation of ours. These are some of the pictures that I've taken on my travels. This industry is always in need of more drivers. The pay is good. Insurance is not bad. And most offer 401K's. The trucks are getting easier to drive. They are more comfortable with more options. I am typing this in my truck thanks to WIFI, offered at most truck stops, and the built in inverter that powers my laptop. With the Internet I get all my loads from it. I keep in touch with my friends and family. I message Kathy when I can. Steamy ones when I get lonely and long for her warm embrace. I get all my routing and directions from the programs on my laptop and I can even see what the place looks like where I am going using Google Earth. I've seen so much and I never want to do anything else.(Unless I win the lotto, but that will be explained next.) My office window changes every mile. Looking for work? Check out US Express, CFI, and Schneider. They each offer training programs to help you get behind the wheel. Talk to any driver that you can and listen to what they say. Then you can decide for yourself if it is something you want to try.

Not willing to do this? Then Protective services should take your children. Then you would be on your own and whether or not you had food or shelter would be your problem and not the problem of the rest of society. I am tired of all the handouts! Your parents are not ATM's. We had tough times but we made it through them. It wasn't easy but it made us stronger people. Get off your ass and get a job! Any job is better than no job. There are so many programs out there to help these people and that makes me mad. Force them to care for themselves otherwise you will be paying for them for generations to come. To all you church people that want to help, set up daycare centers for these people. That way they can go pick up the trash, etc. No More Handouts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I said, my religion is Harry Potter. Don't know that religion? Try reading the books not just watching the movies and you will see what I mean. It's really simple. Evil is all around. It hides itself from the good in the world and works in the shadows to corrupt the good. Life is hard but not impossible. Learn as you live and listen to the people you meet and filter what they tell you and make your own choices. Many challenges can be overcome with the help of a few close friends. When the bad times come, you will find that you have more friends than you realized. Good triumphs over Evil in the end. Pretty simple Huh? We could all use a little magic now and then. In the meantime, play with puppies!

During the late 80's I attended a few great concerts. At some of these concerts a petition was circulated, and after reading it I signed it. Basically it said that "We the people no longer support the government and want to scrap it and start again." Pretty simple really but then my monkey mind started thinking outside the box. Picture the future. What if this petition caught on and went nation wide? Suppose 80% of the registered voters in this country signed this petition and a naional election was called. Then suppose 83% of the American public voted for what this petition said. Do You Really Think That Your Government Would Listen To What The People Wanted? Do You Think That They Would Give Up Their Power And Let Us Start Over? Would This Be The Cause Of A Modern Day Revolution? Someone please explain to me why you think you matter to your government?! This government does us more harm than good. They interfere in our lives on a level that they should not. Family Values? They want to tell us what our family values should be? News to you boys...In this country there is no one set of family values that everyone accepts. It means many things to each of us. To me it is life,liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Now who my life partner is(Kathy Collingwood), is none of their business. What religion I practice(Harry Potter), is not their business. Family values from crooks, cheats, and adulters? Not in my life!

First we need to redefine the meaning of success. Your business will be a success when your people that work for that business are successful. You cannot have one without the other. When you start a business you make a commitment to the people that you hire. They are your challenge. You need to be the best employer that they have ever had. That's something that you need to work on everyday. Make them never regret the day that they came to work for you. Sound simple? Try it, it ain't easy. Stand behind your people. They are trying to do the best job for your business. Realize that mistakes will be made because we are human. It's a learning mistake then. Always be available to your employees. Without them you are nothing. Encourage them to give ideas on what they think would make the business better. Some of them will have some good ideas but you would never know if you didn't talk with them. It's your business to run but be open about what you want to do. Explain why you want to do this and outline your hopes and fears in doing it. They might clue you in to some hopes and fears that you didn't think of. The days of greed must end. Profit is obtainable if you start to share it with your employees. Over the years as I've crossed this great nation of ours, I've spoken many times on how I would run a trucking company since this is what I know. Many drivers have said that they would work for me. Some even have given me their names just in case I do start one. Total strangers that heard my business plan and liked what they heard. My monkey mind get's a workout all the time as the miles go by.

Redistribution of Wealth

How about a cap on personal income? Let's say $5 million would be the max allowed. If you can't live on that much(and live well), you've got a problem and need professional help. How about the next time a company wants to pay their CEO above that amount, they must redistribute the compensation above that mark to all employees in that company? How about a hefty tax if you make more than $5 million a year with no loopholes? Somewhere around 70% would be good. Or the CEO could select a charity or two to support with his compensation above that limit. Think of it, you could one up your peers with your good deeds instead of bigger cars, houses, boats, and the garbage that you currently buy. The working class would get a yearly boost for the good work of the CEO and company that they are a part of. These CEO's take charge of these companies and change them to get more out of them. Even if this company fails, he goes on to another cushy job at another company. The workers that he leaves behind in the failed company are the ones that bought into his quest because they had no choice. They needed the job so they did as directed. Now while he goes on to another CEO job, they are trying to collect unemployment. Sound fair to you? The workers are the ones that are taking the risk because they cannot bounce into another job as easy as these CEO's can. With all the obscene compensation that they were paid, their transition to the next job is a lot easier than the workers. Lewis Black is right, Profit can be obscene, tities cannot.
